Cooking for Bumpkin XP
Recipe choice, kitchen buffs, and daily meal plans that level your bumpkin without wasting ingredients.
Bumpkin XP comes primarily from eating cooked food. Raw crops and most gathered items feed poorly compared to kitchen output. Cooking is therefore not a side activity — it is the engine that unlocks expansions, skills, and high-tier deliveries.
XP basics
Each recipe grants XP when consumed. Higher-tier buildings unlock stronger meals. Your bumpkin has a level visible on farm profiles; gates on Expansion info and skill milestones reference that number (Bumpkin XP).
Manager's Cooking info table columns matter:
- XP per craft
- Time and Instant craft duration
- XP / day given oven uptime
- XP / SFL when ingredient costs are priced via P2P
Eat what you cook. XP applies on consumption, not on crafting alone. Batch meals you will actually feed today.
Official buff order
When simulating buffs on Cooking info, Manager follows in-game order:
- Building oil and kitchen upgrades
- Time multipliers (wearables, skills, NFTs)
- XP when eating multipliers
Double Nom and similar effects can increase ingredient counts — they are not pure bonuses. Read the sim note on the page before assuming a wearable is net positive.
Early-game meal plan
Days 1–7: craft the fastest recipes your Fire Pit or Kitchen allows. Prioritize:
- Low ingredient complexity (fewer stock caps hit)
- Short timers so you feed multiple times per session
- Overlap with Quests info requirements
Do not sell every meal for coins if you sit below the next expansion level gate.
Mid-game optimization
When ingredients stabilize:
- Filter recipes by XP / day with your current buffs selected.
- Cross-check ingredient farms — fruit-heavy meals need orchard investment (Island expansion).
- Keep delivery overlap: cook extra portions of meals that appear in Deliveries info only when order profit beats immediate XP need.
| Question | If yes… | If no… |
|---|---|---|
| Below expansion level? | Feed highest XP/meals you can afford | Sell surplus for coins |
| Double delivery soon? | Stock cooked goods first | Keep feeding XP |
| Ingredient capped? | Upgrade storage or switch recipe | Pause that line |
Skills and wearables
Cooking skill nodes reduce time or boost XP (Skills guide). Wearables and Buds may add parallel buffs. Use the Cooking info simulator categories — Skills, Wearables, Collectibles, NFTs — as a checklist before buying a cosmetic purely for stats.
Legacy cooking skills display under inactive sections; ignore them for planning.
Kitchen buildings and oil
Higher kitchens unlock stronger recipes. Oil reduces craft time — amortize oil cost across a full day of ovens running. If you only play twice daily, extreme time min-max matters less than batch size and stock (Stock limits).
Animals, fish, and flowers as inputs
Mid-tier meals pull eggs, milk, honey, fish. Neglecting Animals, Fishing, or Flowers creates XP stalls where recipes exist but ingredients do not. Add one support system at a time.
FLOWER and P2P ingredient buys
When local production lags, buying ingredients on P2P can be cheaper than slow leveling — run numbers on P2P calc and compare to delayed expansion unlocks (Marketplace).
Next step
Add variety with Fishing for fish-based meals, or schedule XP around Seasons calendar when bonus weeks stack.
